Corey Heim, the reigning Truck champion and part-time driver, showcased his skills by making an impressive comeback in the recent race at Darlington. Restarting ninth with just two laps to go, Heim had a slight advantage with fresher tires, allowing him to make daring moves and pass several trucks on the track. Despite being over half-a-second behind the leader, Ross Chastain, at the white flag, Heim managed to catch up to him and execute a stunning last-lap, last-corner pass to secure the win. The unexpected turn of events left Chastain surprised, as he had no idea that Heim had a tire advantage on that final restart.
Following a thrilling finish, Christian Eckes finished third, followed by Kaden Honeycutt in fourth place, Connor Mosack in fifth, and Christopher Bell in sixth. A notable performance came from AJ Allmendinger, who finished a respectable 11th in his first Truck oval start in 18 years. In Stage 1 of the race, Honeycutt led from pole position before encountering some challenges, including a flat tire incident involving former champion Ben Rhodes. Moving on to Stage 2, Honeycutt continued to impress with a strong performance, leading the majority of the stage and securing the win. The final stage of the race saw intense battles between Honeycutt and Chastain, as well as some unexpected incidents that shook up the running order. Despite the challenges on the track, Heim’s strategic driving and tire advantage ultimately helped him secure the victory in a thrilling final lap showdown with Chastain and Honeycutt.
