Prabowo Outlines Impact Free Nutritious Meal Program: 290K Jobs, 1M Farmers

President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the success of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) program during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) in Jakarta. The program has benefitted 20 million beneficiaries since its launch eight months ago, including school-age children, preschoolers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. With 5,800 Nutritional Service Units (SPPG) established across 38 provinces, the program has created 290,000 jobs and involved one million farmers, fishers, livestock breeders, and small and medium-sized enterprises. President Prabowo emphasized that MBG is not just a social welfare initiative but a strategic effort to cultivate a healthy and productive generation. The program has already shown positive results with increased school attendance and improved academic performance. Despite being in its early stages, Indonesia’s achievements in providing free nutritious meals are exceeding expectations compared to other nations. The Annual Session was attended by various state institutions, members of the DPR and DPD, and the entire cabinet.
