Kritik Prabowo Terhadap Ekonomi Neoliberal: Wealth Trickle Down Lagi?

Prabowo Subianto, the current President of Indonesia and successor to President Joko Widodo, delivered a powerful critique of neoliberal economic theory during his speech at the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB). He challenged the belief that wealth concentration at the top would eventually benefit the wider population, labeling it as a myth that has never materialized. Prabowo emphasized the importance of Article 33 of the Constitution, highlighting its role in ensuring the security and prosperity of the people and eradicating poverty and hunger. He pointed out the need for a state to prioritize the well-being of its citizens and address basic needs, stating that democracy is meaningless if people continue to face hardships. Drawing from the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution, Prabowo underlined the spirit of Article 33, which calls for an economy based on mutual cooperation and familial solidarity, rather than corporate dominance. He criticized neoliberalism for justifying inequality and rejected the idea that wealth would trickle down to benefit all, stating that the theory has not proven true even after 200 years. Prabowo’s remarks reflect his commitment to a people-centered economy and inclusive economic policies that serve all citizens, not just the elite.
