President Prabowo’s Meeting with Indonesia’s Diaspora in Brazil

The visit of President Prabowo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia to Brazil was a significant event for the Indonesian diaspora. Isaque Hattu, the Chair of the Indonesian Diaspora in São Paulo, was among those who warmly welcomed the President during his visit. Hattu expressed his delight in welcoming President Prabowo and the delegation, emphasizing the strong sense of solidarity among the Indonesian community in Brazil. Despite their small numbers, the diaspora members were thrilled to greet their homeland’s leader. During the meeting, Hattu shared his family background with Prabowo, mentioning his parents’ origins in Maluku and Kupang. The President showed interest in Hattu’s story, particularly acknowledging the name of Petrus Oktavianus, an Indonesian figure associated with Brazil in the past. As the meeting concluded, Hattu expressed his hope for strengthened bilateral relations between Indonesia and Brazil through cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
