Prabowo Welcomes Macron: Diplomatic Meeting at the Palace

Indonesia and France have maintained diplomatic relations since 1947, signifying a strong bond between the two nations. Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron received a grand state welcome in Jakarta, emphasizing the spirit of friendship and mutual respect. The arrival of President Macron at Merdeka Palace was met with enthusiasm by about 3,000 students from elementary to high school levels, expressing their support by waving Indonesian and French flags.

Accompanied by First Lady Brigitte Macron, President Macron was warmly greeted by President Prabowo Subianto at the palace. The two leaders proceeded to the ceremonial grounds, accompanied by the national anthems of both countries and a formal 21-gun salute. The honor guard inspection further highlighted the ceremonial atmosphere, with Macron acknowledging the students’ joyful participation in the event.

The presence of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, as well as Prabowo’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo, added to the significance of the occasion. President Macron’s visit to Indonesia also included visits to the Military Academy in Magelang and the UNESCO World Heritage site, Borobudur Temple, showcasing the cultural and educational ties between Indonesia and France. A closed-door bilateral meeting between the two leaders marked a pivotal moment in strengthening strategic partnerships between the two countries, reflecting a deeper level of cooperation.
