Ministers in the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the plight of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The primary objective of the meeting was to find solutions for the affected workers, as per Prabowo’s instructions. Among those present were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s deep concern for the employees and stressed the importance of promptly resolving the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The aim is to reemploy approximately 8,000 workers in the textile industry with a new work structure. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s dedication to potentially rehiring former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to provide assistance and guidance is anticipated to bring relief to the laid-off PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group employees by ensuring they receive appropriate compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of identifying investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new arrangement, which will eventually result in the rehiring of the displaced workers. This initiative is geared towards stabilizing the affected employees’ situation and offering a resolution to their current challenges.
